We Have Moved!

We are excited to let you know we have moved to a new location. We are at 919 DeClark St. Beaver Dam. It is a fun little place with a lot of character and we are loving it.
To get to the location from our old place at the mall, just continue west on Industrial Drive till you reach a T in the road. This is DeClark St. Turn left or south on DeClark. You will find our shop right after the railroad tracks (which run behind the store) on your left or the east side of the road.  It is a white concrete block building with an awning, yellow door and benches out front.

Busy trimming trees and sprucing up.

We are adding black and white stripes to the front awning. It has a french market look to it. It will look spectacular.  We share the building with Fred Kaping Realty. We are all excited about our move and our loving the fresh air and windows.  We look forward to seeing you soon.

Spring Fever!

If you are like me the snow melting means only one thing ...Spring Fever. I am anxious to get outside and start gardening. I am already looking for evidence of spring flowers and for my perenials.  I have a small herb garden that I enjoy gathering special fresh herbs from and even though I dried a lot more than what I needed for this last winter, I am looking for signs of my herbs to come popping back up again. There are a lot of herbs that are perenials that keep coming back bigger and better the next year, even in Wisconsin!

Here at Floral Expressions we have a few varieties available. Garlic Chives, Golden Oregano, and Purple Sage.  These are fun for outside or even to grow on your sunny windowsill.  There is nothing like fresh herbs in your cooking.

While your cooking up some fresh herbs consider decorating your dinner table in fresh flowers. Even a couple stems of daisies, tulips or some daffodills. mixed with some fresh greens or even some curly willow to accent them and give you a fresh outlook on the coming days that switch from snow to rain, back to snow, back to rain... you get the idea.  You have to love Wisconsin!

How to Take Care of Your Fresh Cut Flowers

Here at Floral Expressions we want you to enjoy the full length of your cut flowers. So here are some helpful hints on how to care for those beautiful flowers.

1. Clean the water in the vase.  A clean vase helps keep the bacteria down that clogs the pores of the stems.
2. Hold the arrangements together and clip the ends of the stems again to give the flowers a fresh cut.

If you have roses it is best to cut the stems under water. You can do this 2 ways either fill your sink with a little water and cut under the water or run the water and cut the stems under the running water.  Cutting under water allows the stems to take up water before air. It will also close the stem up with a water bubble rather than getting air trapped inside the stem keeping the flower from taking up water.

If your roses have wilted you might be able to bring them back by submerging the whole flower head and all under water and cutting the stem under water.  Leave the flower under water for an hour or even overnight. It should rehydrate.

Have fun enjoying your flowers! If you have any questions regarding fresh flowers or your green and blooming plants feel free to contact us at Floral Expressions, 1-920-887-8062.
